Better Together ~ June 12th Feeding Frenzy to Feed 30,000 PlusVillage Common was alive with energy and joy on June 12th when dozens of cheerful and hard-working volunteers of all ages from Charles St. A.M.E. and Wellesley Village Church joined together to pack meals for those in need. In this newest iteration of the “Feeding Frenzy,” we packed over 30,000 meals of rice and beans that have already started on their way to Haiti (via the “Haitian Health Foundation”) and to Ukraine (via “End Hunger New England”). The day was a living testament to the power of the “Better Together” initiative, and to the decades-long commitment of our two congregations working together for the common good. The Service Ministry thanks everyone who gave time, energy, and funds to make this event so successful: the schedulers, the van (un)loaders, the set-up and tear-down crews, the sextons, the meal assembly crews, the bag weighers and sealers, the financial contributors, the food planners and preparers, the dish washers, the floor sweepers. Special kudos to Village Church Moderator, John Snyder, who made box assembly, taping, toting, and stacking look easy. It took us all, and it was grand!
