…especially their pre-eviction program, as rents continue their relentless rise in our area. FPM has served 64 families so far this year, and they will certainly exceed the total number of families served last year.
Thanks to generous support from people like you, FPM also completed construction of 3 bedrooms at their Center on Mulligan Street in Natick, so they can shelter families there. As much as we loved hosting with you all at our church, this new model is a much less stressful experience for the families. It’s a lovely space, complete with a beautiful basement family room, and families no longer have to travel each night to a church and back to Natick first thing in the morning. If you haven’t helped host a dinner there yet or another volunteer role at the Center, I hope you’ll try it.
Our next host week is December 4 (though you can host anytime, other weeks as well). It’s very similar to our past situation, just not at our church. Families can host (with the approval of the weekly coordinator), and teens are requested almost every night! Here’s the link to our host week signup AND separate Teen Volunteer signup: https://www.cervistech.com/acts/console.php?console_id=0002&console_type=event&ht=1
Keeping the Promise is FPM’s largest annual fundraiser. The free, online concert is Friday, November 18 at 8 pm, or you can attend the dinner event in person (at Walnut Hill School in Natick). There’s also a huge online auction with something for everyone! Here’s the link to access the auction and event: https://www.familypromisemetrowest.org
Last but not least is laundry! Just like at home, it never goes away! Family Promise is looking for volunteers to be on a sort of “on call” email list to do laundry when a family moves out of shelter and a new family is coming in. There’s no obligation – you’ll get an email with a need, and if the timing works for you, you can take it on, and if not, just wait for another time. Here’s the link to get on the list:
