Sunday, November 25th Rev. Butter was surprised by peers, friends and colleagues with a special acknowledgement during worship last Sunday, followed by a celebration and a video presentation honoring her 30 years of ministry.

To my dear Emmaus Team, our Moderators, and Staff colleagues,
Thank you for the surprise and delight that happened on Sunday.  I was truly stunned!  The words of Scripture and Tribute, the carefully crafted gift and presentation rooted in my call story, the prayer at the font with hands of blessing upon and around me, the meaningful hymns from my installation/ordination services, the magnificent postlude, the slideshow, the cake. . .all combined to create an abundant shower of blessing.  To have ALL of you standing with me in worship embodied the best of ministry:  God’s Spirit surrounding, inspiring, sustaining us through one another in all things, and always making more of us together than we can be apart.  Truly the joy of ministry is in the relationships, and you are at the heart of that at WVC.

I’m grateful beyond words.
The most amazing part of it all is how renewed I felt by the experience.  I had been approaching 30 years as a milestone of decline, and something changed during the celebration.  I received renewed energy, call, conviction and hope, and could feel the holy spirit in flight leading the way forward.
