Service Ministry Grants

The Service Ministry of Village Church annually offers small grants to organizations providing food, shelter, clothing, medical assistance, counseling, ministerial support or other services to people in need. The application process usually opens in the late summer, with applications due at end of September.

The church is particularly interested in awarding grants that:

  • Provide direct service to persons, communities, or causes in need
  • Make a significant impact on the organization
  • Provide current and/or future meaningful volunteer opportunities for members of the Wellesley Village Church and / or Charles Street A.M.E. congregations

If your organization received a grant from the Wellesley Village Church last year, you will be asked to provide a description of how that grant was used. Periodically, grant recipients are rotated out of the grant process to allow for new initiatives.

Starting in 2022, the application process will be online (click the purple button below for the online application form). Hard-copy grant requests will not be considered. The due date for application submission this year is Friday, September 30, 2022. We anticipate that award decisions will be made in November.

Award funds will be transferred via the Automatic Clearing House system, which allows the church to credit your organization’s bank account directly and rapidly. If you receive a grant, you will be asked to complete and sign an ACH Authorization and Information form.

We look forward to receiving your application. If you have technical questions about submission, please email Sharon Funk at

We assess each application with great care, and we derive both inspiration and reward from learning about the missions served by such worthy service organizations.
