American Revolution Historic Monument

On Monday April 22, 2024 the granite monument and embedded bronze plaque to 16 Revolutionary War Veterans was set by the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution & Wellesley Congregational Church at the Church Cemetery.  Project inspiration began June of 2020 then delay in the plaque due to the pandemic, a flood at the foundry, a post Covid shortage in molding supplies then finally delivery in August 2023.

Formal dedication ceremony is set for Sunday September 29, 2024 to begin at 11:30 AM after Church Service. Photo record of the April 22nd event and a page from this weeks Church Bulletin are enclosed.

Setting of the stone provided by contractor: Tribute In Stone Monument Company of Wrentham, MA.  Recognition and thank you goes to the owners Shila and Todd Duffy who were instrumental in contracting the production of the granite stone and the embedding in it the bronze plaque.

Recognition and Thank you to Joe Gauthier / MA Society of SAR Committee Chairmen of awards and Certificates: Eagle Scouts, ROTC, JROTC, Sea Cadets and Bonze Cemetery Plaques.  Joe acquired approval of funds to pay for the Bronze plaque thru the National Society of SAR’s George Washington endowment fund.   Also was the facilitator on taking Wellesley Village Church’s Ad Hoc Committee’s approved artwork for the plaque, delivering it to Centec Metal Products the foundry for casting and delivery of the Plaque.

Finally, we recognize and thank the Boston Chapter membership of MA Society of the Sons of the American Revolution for their unanimous nomination for the SAR Bronzed plaque  to the 16 American Revolution War Veterans that in the care of the Wellesley Village Church Cemetery.
